Glossaryselection of technical and mathematical terms, defined only to the level of rigor required for our investigation into numbers.- A -- B -- C -- D -- E -- F -- G -- H -- I -integer - any of the natural numbers, or zero, or any of the opposites (negative values) of the natural number. 1, 2, 3, and so on, or -1, -2, -3, and so on, or 0.- J -- K -- L -- M -natural number - any of the counting numbers greater than zero. 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on. - N -- O -- P -prime number - any natural number other than 1 that can be divided evenly only by 1 and itself. for example, 2, 3, 5, 17, 29, 383, and 2837 are all prime numbers but 4, 6, 8, 9, 105, are not primes, and neither is any even number other than 2. - Q -- R -- S -- T -- U -- V -- W -whole number - any of the natural numbers or zero. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.- X -- Y -- Z - |
